One thing the US Coast Guard will immediately look for upon inspection is if you have fire extinguishers and the correct amount. If your boat is 26′-40′ you will need two. Over 40′ you need at least three. Scott and I have four on the boat: one in our stateroom, one in the galley, one at the helm and one in the cockpit.
